Bhujbal invited to meet U.S. Congress members

Maharashtra Minister for Public Works and Tourism Chhagan Bhujbal has been invited to meet key members of the U.S. Congress in Washington DC in May or June.

He was invited by Eni F.H. Faleomavaega, ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Asia and the Pacific. The invitation comes after Sanjay Puri, head of the Alliance for U.S. India Business, met Mr. Bhujbal last month along with Iowa senator Swati Dandekar and others as part of a delegation of women political leaders to discuss ways to build stronger ties between the United States and India.

Earlier, during U.S. President Obama’s visit to Mumbai, Mr. Bhujbal presented him with Ghulamgiri, an English translation of Jyotiba Phule’s book Slavery written in 1873. It is dedicated to the good people of the U.S. as a token of admiration for their sublime disinterestedness and self-sacrifice in fighting the cause of Negro slavery.
